We Appreciate and Value our Volunteers

Any community’s level of success depends on the willingness of its members to contribute to its vibrancy and health and Sno-King has a long tradition of exceptional volunteerism. We cannot survive without the selfless efforts of hundreds of Sno-King parents and players offering their time and talents to help our youth hockey program function. These volunteers represent all sectors of the community. They are family and friends of athletes, student groups, business leaders, and members of local civic organizations that share our vision of Building Players for Life. Whether it be coaching or managing a team, helping with player safety through Safesport, helping with the apparel ordering and distribution, score keeping, working the penalty box during a game, helping with administrative tasks or other ways, Sno-King truly relies on a community effort.

Remember that if you have a matching program at your place of employment such as Microsoft you can turn in your volunteer hours and Sno-King will receive matching funds for the time you spend volunteering.  This is one of our primary sources of donations and plays an important role for funding operations.

How to become a Volunteer

Thank you for your interest in volunteering for Sno-King Amateur Hockey Association (SKAHA). Sno-King was literally built on volunteerism. Each year volunteers donate their time and energy to provide sports and life skills training for the kids we serve.

SKAHA encourages volunteer participation and there are a variety of ways to help. If you understand the game and have a desire to help young people learn hockey and skills for life we are always seeking good coaching candidates to be head coaches and assistant coaches. Team managers play a vital role in making the hockey experience enjoyable and in being a communication link between the organization and our members.  Other ways to be a part of our family of volunteers is by being a division coordinator, acting as a Safesport team monitor, scorekeeping, helping with team stats, or working the penalty box. Administratively, volunteers can help with events for the Sno-King community, fundraising, apparel ordering and distribution, social media and other office related support to the SKAHA professional staff.

Whatever your interests as a volunteer it is likely that we have an opportunity where you can participate. Volunteering for Sno-King has been a gratifying experience for many through the years who have already shared their time and talents. We hope you will join them; and whatever your volunteer role, we wish you many rewards.
